Firm says next generation of cells deliver 10pc improvement in performance over last
Israeli Battery manufacturer Storedot says its next generation of battery cells will have a 10pc improvement in energy density compared to the previous model.
The firm’s product roadmap aims to deliver cells that can provide 100 miles charged in 5 minutes in 2024 ('100in5'), 100 miles charged in 4 minutes in 2026 ('100in4') and 100 miles charged in 3 minutes by 2028 ('100in3').
The firm remains on track for beginning production of its 100in5 cells this year.
And it has now completed early prototype tests on its 100in4 cells which show a 10pc improvement in energy density compared to the 100in5 generation.
The firm is in the process of scaling up the 100in4 cells from 3Ah to 140Ah and is on track for mass production in 2026. The cells will provide a projected energy density of 340Wh/kg for EVs.
This year the firm will demonstrate its first EV pack equipped with the cells, ship samples to OEMs and expand its operations in the US.
“We remain ahead of schedule for our planned milestones as we continue our path to commercialisation,” says StoreDot CEO Doron Myersdorf. “We believe our roadmap provides a sustainable, practical, and proven path to delivering extreme fast charging that will accelerate mass EV adoption.”
Last year Storedot signed a collaboration agreement with Volvo Cars to help accelerate the technology.
StoreDot's other strategic investors and partners include BP, Daimler, VinFast, Polestar, Ola Electric, Samsung, TDK, and its manufacturing partner EVE Energy.
