Skoda’s next EV will be a compact SUV crossover called the Epiq, to be sold in Europe at a starting price of €25,000 from 2025.
In addition to its existing SUV the Enyaq, Skoda wants to launch a further six EV models in coming years.
"Our customers want choices, which is why we are expanding our growing e-mobility portfolio into this popular segment,” says Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto.
The Epiq will be the first vehicle to be launched using Skoda's 'modern solid' design, and will have bidirectional charging functionality.
Skoda sold 81,700 Enyaq vehicles in 2023, a 52.1pc year-on-year growth — the highest growth amongst any of its models.
The Enyaq represented 9.4pc of Skoda's total sales and was the 4th best-selling BEV in the EU in 2023.
Skoda announced an electric SUV called the Elroq last year and will also launch an electric estate in 2026.
The Enyaq will get a revamp on the new modern solid design in 2025.
"In order to press ahead with the transformation toward electric mobility, the company is committed to investing billions of euros in e-mobility in the coming years, the firm says.
Skoda is owned by the VW Group, which grew its BEV sales by 35pc across 2023, selling 771,000 EVs worldwide throughout the year
