There has yet to be a full recovery from Q1 production blips
US OEM Ford is in danger of its 2023 North American EV sales falling behind volumes achieved in the same period of 2022 — despite deliveries of two of its three models only starting in January of last year — as a rebound from production outages that hobbled two models in Q1 continues to underwhelm.
In January, Ford sold more than double the number of EVs in North America as it did last year: 5,247 to January 2022’s 2,571, as the F-150 Lightning pickup and E-Transit van contributed just 63 and 138 sales respectively in their first months of recorded figures. After February, 2023 was over 4,000 sales ahead of last year.
