Ford CEO Farley backs his vehicles to catch the eye at superchargers
Ford’s recent deal to access fellow US OEM Tesla’s charging network raised concerns that Ford owners could potentially be seduced by its rival's marketing as they charged. But the legacy manufacturer’s CEO Jim Farley sees the opposite as just as true: an opportunity at the charger to potentially draw consumers away from Elon Musk’s EV market leader.
In an interview with US broadcaster CNBC, Farley stressed that “when you go to a charging station it is a social experience”. Greater time spent in such scenarios — as in the early days of the ICE industry — will, in his opinion, allow vehicle users more scope to observe options other than their current model.
