Brussels-based lobby group the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (Acea) has issued a stark warning to the EU — extend the present transitional tariff rules for EV trade with the UK or face the “severe consequences” of tariff costs of up to €4.3bn and reduced EV output of 480,000 units.

Acea is calling for a three-year postponement to more restrictive tariff rules that are set to come into effect on 1 January next year.
