US commercial EV pure play start-up Bollinger Motors, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Mullen Automotive, has made its first customer delivery on the West Coast. The firm has dispatched sending three Bollinger B4 Class 4 chassis cab electric trucks to TEC Equipment in Lacey, WA, Fontana, CA, and Oakland, CA.
The firm has already received payment for the vehicles delivered, which have a retail value of approximately $500,000.
“The West Coast represents a critical region of the country for electric vehicle success, and today’s deliveries to TEC are significant steps forward for Bollinger,” says the firm's chief revenue officer Jim Connelly. “TEC is a well-respected dealer and an important partner for our West Coast success. We look forward to working with them to build Bollinger’s presence in several markets.”
The B4, which boasts a 158kWh battery pack, is qualified for federal clean vehicle tax credits of $40,000 per vehicle under the Inflation Reduction Act. Additional state incentives can push total savings to more than $100,000, according to Bollinger. It will have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $158,758.
Dealer partner
TEC is a family-owned truck and trailer dealership headquartered in Portland, OR and boasting more than 30 locations across eight states. As a full-service dealership, TEC offers truck and trailer sales, parts, service, leasing, rental, insurance, financing, towing and recovery equipment, auto transportation equipment and services, as well as zero emissions vehicle consulting.
"This is an exciting moment for TEC Equipment as we help bring the newest OEM in the trucking industry to market,” says Chris Thompson, the firm's vice-president of truck sales. "Bollinger is making an all-electric truck that is well suited to help companies meet their commercial fleet needs, and we are looking forward to bringing it to current and new customers up and down the West Coast.”
Bollinger has been making progress in recent months, including a mid-September production launch. It made its first delivery of five e-trucks at the start of this month, banking nearly $800,00 from Nacarato Truck Centers in LaVergne, TN.
It has an order book of 265 vehicles from three large 50+ vehicles orders across three customers, while Affinity Truck Center in Fresno, CA, Midwest-based Nuss Truck & Equipment, and Michigan’s Lafontaine Automotive Group have joined Nacarato and TEC as dealers and service centres. On the regulatory side, Bollinger has achieved milestones including California Air Resources Board certification, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards compliance, and Certificate of Conformity from the Environmental Protection Agency.
It has also signed an agreement for US domestic battery challenger Our Next Energy to supply battery packs. Other partnerships include automotive software firm Syncron as its warranty administration partner and maintenance specialist Amerit Fleet Solutions as its mobile service provider.
